Expect many marvel comic movies in 2010/11

Which one you think can stop production now and save the money to work on other better title? my pick is antman. i mean

Kenneth Branagh to direct Thor?

not that he's not a good director, but a comic movie, Mr Branagh? hrmz...

Magneto might come under X-men Origins.

anyway, this is good news for a movie nerd!

Who do you think will be good as thor?

I think Will smith will be quite good as the black panther or Luke Cage, which has already cast Tyrese Gibson. anywho.

I suspect he's read Jean Michael Straczynski's run on Thor (he's the creator of Babylon 5 and went into the A list of writers with the recently nominated The Changeling), a quite exceptional one. Most people think superheroes are quite "immature" stuff, but you can find very challenging stuff (see Civil War, Grant Morrison's run on the New X-Men, Orson Scott Card's ultimate Iron Man). X-Men was another great example of that, a movie you could interpret at different levels (fun but with a surprising depth, as the original Stan Lee's comics).

I think Marvel is going to run out of steam on this exploitation of their IP, even with their ultimate line which is clearly paving the way for the movies. Iron Man was really good, but you can see a pattern (Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, The Wire guy and ex-Dark Angel chick in FF, etc.) and after a while they'll run out of spots for these big actors which are unlikely to come back unless there's a solid financial reason.

On the other hand, I'd like to see what they can do with The Avengers, and would look with interest at a Civil War movie...

EDIT: oh and I'd pay double the theatre ticket prize to see a Magneto with Sir Ian McKellen (and hopefully cameos from Patrick Stewart, these two were exceptionnal in the Xmen trilogy).

The minor members of the Avengers should just be introduced and given appreciable roles in the Avengers epic rather than wasting a whole movie budget on some little-known fringe heroes.

Then again, Henry Pym was a pretty big role in the actual Avengers comic even though his spinoffs weren't the most well-received. I think he should be given nothing more than a major role in the Avengers but his own movie...not so much.

Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and The Hulk. That's all that are needed to set the stage for a really good Avengers movie.

I can't stand spiderman anymore and haven't really liked many of the marvel things I've seen in a while (missed iron man because I figured it'd suck too).

The Tim Burton Batman films plus the two new ones are probably the best superhero movies based on comic books ever. Mystery men was cool too, but they didn't have their own comic book beforehand.

God I was hoping this watchmen movie was the end of it... I am getting so sick of superhero movies they really are abusing the idea of them.

STOP MAKING THEM FOR A WHILE DARK KNIGHT WAS A GOOD NOTE TO END ON.
